DIL’s passion is laser-focused on driving digital innovation by building a dynamic and collaborative innovation culture across SIA Group, solving long-term to short-term business units’ challenges through open collaborations, and programmatically scaling innovative ideas to go-to-market and corporate venture building.

A resilient, dynamic, diverse, agile and achievement oriented DIL team who is focused on execution is required to achieve these strategies and goals.  Your role as a Business Technologist predominantly focuses on two key areas with the aim to deliver impactful business outcomes at speed:

  1. Drive the ideation and development of digitally innovative ideas from its inception, through DIL programmatic innovation platforms, working with various internal and external stakeholders to propel ideas and solutions towards adoption in existing and/or create new products, services and new business opportunities.

  2. Nurture and grow SIA digital innovation global partnerships a wide range of partners across multiple stakeholders in the travel and aviation industry to drive corporate innovation

The key roles of a Business Technologist include but not limited to the following:

  1. Digital Innovation Programme/Project Management

    • Identify a pipeline of digitally innovative ideas for prototype development, assess the suitability and fit for advancement through the DIL innovation program (e.g. POCs, go-to-market)

    • Programme and project manage SIA’s R&D Labs set up in collaboration with industry partners ensuring that the outputs, outcomes and conditions are met

    • Engage with relevant business units and coordinate the development of use cases, prototypes and POCs

    • Serve as the main point of contact for SIA intrapreneurs/entrepreneurs (e.g. idea submitters) during the program, providing guidance, mentoring, coaching and support, and to track performance and progress of these prototypes and POCs

    • Manage the portfolio of prototypes and POCs, including financial, operations and compliance aspects

    • Undertake on-going analysis, reporting, and recommend the future shape, direction and roadmap of the program

    • Support the management of DIL budget (capex and opex)

  2. SIA Business Partnerships to solve business challenges and develop innovation opportunities

    • Develop strong relationships with SIA Group Business Units (BUs) and IT to establish deeper understanding and better articulation of business opportunities, customers’ and business pain points to the open innovation partners to identify potential solutions, problem solvers or innovation opportunities for development

  3. Work with the DIL team members to drive digital idea submission and prototype and POC development, communicate relevant technologies and innovation trends to fuel the ideation of innovation
    Global and Local Open Innovation Partnerships

    • Work with the DIL and SIA leadership to define the partnership strategies, identify opportunities and areas of focus to drive SIA digital innovation and execute on the overall strategy

    • Collaborate internally with key stakeholders and external partners to manage and nurture existing and expand new partnerships to catalyst and drive the success of SIA digital innovation programs and projects

    • Evaluate and assess the strategic, business and economic impact of potential partnerships and opportunities

    • Lead all aspects of partnership execution, from negotiation, business case development, to agreement structure, governance and engagement model, etc.

    • Collaborate with teams in DIL, SIA IT teams and key stakeholders to design, launch and manage challenges through DIL innovation program

    • Establish and maintain strategic partnership with government authorities/agencies to leverage on programmes, funding/support schemes and resources to support SIA digital innovation and DIL’s initiatives

    • Work with DIL team members to grow the awareness and mindshare of SIA digital innovation

Required Skills and Experiences

  • A degree in related discipline

  • Experiences working in start-ups and MNCs, managing complex, innovative digital venture building projects in large organisations in the travel and aviation industry

  • Team player with excellent analytical ability as well as attention to details to drive strong business outcomes for SIA and our partners

  • Possess exceptional EQ and AQ, a creative and strategic thinker, with strong inter-personal, facilitation, multi-tasking, organisational, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Possess ability to engage and communicate ideas and concepts simply, concisely and effectively across levels of the organisation

  • A good grasp of technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Augmented / Virtual / Mixed Reality, Internet-of-Things, 5G, Blockchain, etc) and their use cases
