A leading player in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and dedicated Data Modelling Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse data sources, designing and optimising reusable data pipelines to maximise business value from data.
What you'll do:
As a Data Modelling Engineer, you will be at the heart of the company's digital transformation journey. You will collaborate closely with both non-technical and technical team members across business units to gather, elicit, document, translate, develop, govern, analyse, create, define, communicate, implement, perform tasks related to their complex data sets. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity of their vast array of information assets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, elicit and document data requirements
Develop and govern data modelling standards, best practices, and guidelines
Ensure regular data profiling and analysis to validate and optimise data models for performance and efficiency
Analyse source system data structures, and formats to identify data relationships, dependencies, and mapping requirements
Create and maintain data mapping specifications that document how data from one source is transformed and loaded into the target data model
Define transformation rules and logic to transform data as needed
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of data modelling and mapping processes
Implement data quality checks and validation mechanisms to identify and resolve data quality issues
Perform data profiling, data validation, and data quality checks using tools such as SQL and Python
What you bring:
The ideal Data Modelling Engineer will bring a wealth of experience in data management, including expertise in data warehousing concepts and data modelling. You will have a proven track record of designing and implementing data warehouses using Data Vault 2.0 principles. Your strong experience working with heterogeneous data sets, building and optimising data pipelines using modern Data Integration Tools, will be crucial for this role. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL is essential, along with experience working with data warehousing solutions to build data warehouses or data marts.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent discipline
At least three years of experience in a Data Management discipline including experience in data warehousing concepts and data modelling
Experience designing and implementing data warehouses using Data Vault 2.0 principles is a strong plus
Strong experience working with heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines using modern Data Integration Tools (e.g. Talend) and Data Storage Solutions (e.g. Azure Data Lake)
Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL
Experience of working with data warehousing solutions (e.g. Snowflake) to build data warehouses / data marts
Basic understanding of popular open-source and commercial data science tools and platforms such as Python and Azure ML is an advantage
Experience working in a virtual team setting and self-driven with desire to take the lead and drive tasks to completion in a remote environment
Detail-oriented and strict attention to details and the ability to quickly spot and fix problems
