Role Responsibilities 

Strategy

  • Develop and execute the Risk and CFCC Functional strategy including its TOM, technology, Transformation roadmap, in conjunction with TTO and other partners

  • Maintain Risk and CFCC MT buy-in for the strategy and the required underpinning investment finances

  • Bring a challenging ‘outside-in’ view to SCB through maintaining strong relationships within industry

  • Define and implement the strategic architecture roadmap for Risk and CFCC infrastructure aligned to the needs of the functions and to regulatory expectations, focusing on synergy opportunities broader across the organisation

  • Energetically drive the execution of the service delivery model approach to build a sustainable operating model for both functions

  • Identify people impact of the strategy and partner with HR to build an holistic People Plan

  • Prioritise, design and oversee change programmes that are required to meet the functional strategy, working closely with Risk and CFCC MT members

  • Responsible for overall delivery of all Risk and CFCC investment funded programmes to agreed timelines, budget and quality

  • Set the standards for user experience and digital platforms across the functions, leveraging best practice from both inside and outside the Group

  • Provide leadership to multiple project functional delivery teams

Business

  • Tightly monitor and manage the execution of the functional strategy, making course corrections within the function, where necessary.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (within Risk and CFCC and the wider Group) to understand specific needs and to develop solutions as appropriate

  • Partner with Finance to maintain rigorous cost discipline and to achieve the targeted cost savings for the functions

  • Keep the overall narrative clear, simple and alive. Communicate across Risk and CFCC and the wider Group on change programmes

Processes

  • Drive a rigorous digitisation of functional activities with a focus on self service and data capture around usage to drive insights

  • Drive continuous improvement and the operational efficiency of processes to ensure the client is at the centre of all we do, optimize and increase scalability and improve efficiency

  • Work with direct reports and other stakeholders to support the delivery of the Risk and CFCC strategy and Group strategy in a safe and well-controlled manner and on an end-to-end basis – incorporating infrastructure and technology requirements.

  • Deliver the service delivery model to embed sustainable processes

People & Talent

  • Responsible for managing and recruiting staff in the team, ensuring adequate staffing and strong talent identification, succession planning and development activities.

  • Provide effective leadership to the team, communicate the vision and build commitment and energy to focus on key priorities

  • Lead the way on culture and values to set the appropriate tone across the team and ensure people are recognised and rewarded appropriately

  • Lead the team to deliver specific projects as well as deliverables determined by the functional objectives

  • Develop and embed a high-performance culture with specific focus on capability, effectiveness and productivity

  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and reward in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Risk Management

  • Ensure that issues, risks and interdependencies are identified, managed and resolved and ensure a robust escalation process across the change management cycle

  • Ensure key person risks (BaU and project) are mitigated

  • Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job-holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalated, where appropriate to relevant risk committees

  • Ensure that conduct, conflict of interest and operational risks that emerge from the strategy are adequately identified and mitigated

Governance

  • Ensure effective governance around strategic change and change management, including the use of the CFCC and Risk MTs to prioritise work

  • Ensure that the QPR process is effective

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.   • Serve as a Director of the Board of GBS and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

  • Exercise authorities delegated by the COO, Risk and CFCC and act in accordance with all set/communicated guidelines
