Short Term Assignment - 3 months

The Role Responsibilities

  • This role is part of the Enterprise Technology (ET) Transformation team – a function which partners with colleagues to create #simplerfasterbetter processes, putting clients and business outcomes at the centre of what we do.

  • The roles focus is to assist the ET Cost Optimisation Portfolio. The role will also help in developing and delivering strategies to effect the changes required to proactively ensure that the people agenda is delivered and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains.

  • Working with ET Domain Heads and Business and Functional stakeholders the role will involve collaboration and buy in from stakeholders across CIO domains to drive the infrastructure resizing (both on-prem and cloud), automating cloud FinOps controls, and other cost optimisation initiatives.

  • The candidate must also exhibit the right behaviours to drive new ways of working within the space.As an individual, it will be important to have excellent interpersonal skills. The person must be hands-on enough to design, discover, facilitate, and implement practical solutions, yet able to operate at strategic levels to ensure we tackle the right problems.

  • The role will also coach, mentor, and develop all delivery staff in the ET Cost Optimisation to improve how transformation is executed in all areas of our business.

  • The scope of this role goes across TTO (Transformation, Technology and Operations). It includes a blend of strategic thinking and execution and provides a good platform for future roles.

Strategy

  • Understand and align the ET Cost Optimisation to Strategy 25.

  • Assist in driving the implementation and execution of ET Cost optimisation to deliver an operationally efficient, effective, and low-friction organisation.

  • Establish and maintain a highly engaged working relationship with shared accountability across businesses/functions.

  • Own, contribute and deliver projects / experiments as required to deliver change outcomes and innovate insight-based analyses.

  • Ensure TTO compliance to overarching Enterprise Change Management and other governance processes as appropriate.

  • Work in partnership with the First and Second line of defence teams to ensure risk appetite is maintained while manual intervention in operational processes is minimised.

  • Measure and track financial benefits to ensure accurate planning and alignment to Corporate Plan.

  • Development and tracking of productivity metrics to demonstrate improvement of overall performance.

Business

  • Establish and maintain a highly engaged working relationship with shared accountability across businesses/functions.

  • Assist in ensuring traceability and clear metrics to demonstrate the achievements delivered.

  • Identify and implement cost optimisation opportunities within ET and associated functions.

  • Ensure the delivery of initiatives in line with the Bank’s control and governance framework.

  • Looks for opportunities to drive continuous cost optimisation, including the implementation of improved ways of working, automation, and simplification across the infrastructure.

Processes

  • Assist in driving automation in cost optimization for Cloud and On-Prem to maintain appropriate hygiene in our estate and add further value for the Bank.

  • Help in creating and executing plans to achieve 2024 cost save targets that are in the $100m BoW.

  • Execute multiple cost optimisation programs focusing on technology rationalisation, Cloud Optimization and more, to deliver annual sustainable saves for ET and the Bank

  • Lead projects that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of ET operations globally. Improve processes and reduce cost by working across ET subdomains

  • Assist in the cost optimisation initiatives to identify, propose & deliver varied optimisations across cloud and on prem infrastructure. This encompasses the overall understanding of existing infra usage patterns in collaboration with infrastructure, engineering, product, and business leaders to produce cost and demand forecasts and optimization plans

  • Driving self-sustaining saves through automation making processes more efficient & effective.

People & Talent

  • Contribute to process training and skills building initiatives, including the coaching and development of colleagues to support and accelerate the Ways of Working.

  • Develop best practice of Cost optimisation skills by coaching and mentoring.

  • Work closely with colleagues with different expertise in self-steering teams and help embed a culture of continuous improvement across TTO.

  • Identify and implement cultural and behavioural changes that are required to support and embed ways of working into the DNA of ET.

Risk Management

  • Appropriately escalate and manage risks arising from Change initiatives, ensure RAID is priced, captured, and managed as part of the entire portfolio delivery.

  • Ownership / accountability for ensuring implementation of a comprehensive Group Transformation Office Framework as appropriate to TTO and ET

  • Be proactive in seeking regular assurance that the teams are performing in line with the changes agreed.

  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed by Product Transformation leads within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant RF and QPR in line with the banks policies

  • Ensure any material issues are escalated directly to the ET MT in a timely manner when required i.e. Significant risks, regulatory breaches, significant conduct issues, capacity or capability issues etc. 

Governance

  • Be familiar with key policies that impact ET and those that can impact the Bank as a whole, and actively manage and review process to ensure policies are adhered to.

  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in the ET Team to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations among employee’s form part of the culture.

  • Ensure compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with local banking laws and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines.

  • Lead and champion the risk and conduct agenda for ET.

  • Ensure hygiene matters are in order such as completion of mandatory team e-learning, trainings, job objectives completion etc.

  • Strong knowledge on Financials management - Budget tracking, planning, forecast and variance explanations

  • Certifications: PMP, Azure, AWS, VMWARE, SAFe 5
