Section A: Summary of Job

Corporate Strategy Manager reports to the Head of Corporate and Business Planning. As a member of the Corporate and Business Planning Group, this role will lead Strategy and Corporate Development, and drive activities that support longer term business growth and profitability. This role will own the strategy development process, and lead both organic and inorganic initiatives, including M&As, joint ventures, due diligence assessments, negotiations, and organizational integration. The role will work closely with other team members in the Corporate and Business Planning Teams to evaluate and progress opportunities to completion.

Section B: Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analysis of industry trends, competitive threats, expansion opportunities and internal performance to support C-level decision-making

  • Perform detailed financial analysis (financial modelling, earnings impacts, etc.) on all organic and inorganic opportunities, with the ability to identify key drivers and associated business assumptions

  • Lead strategy development ensure robustness of process (ie. situational analysis, strategic choices, measurement and reward, implementation and experiment)

  • Evaluate and execute strategic initiatives including M&A and other organic and inorganic opportunities

  • Prepare strategy presentations for review with key stakeholders (including Senior Management and Board of Directors)

  • Oversee due diligence, including planning due diligence workstreams and management of transaction advisors

  • Develop, co-ordinate and execute post-acquisition integration plans

  • Supporting management on other Corporate Development initiatives including (but not limited to) Capital Structures, Operational Excellence, Operating Model and Processes

Section C: Job Requirements (Specific Skills or Knowledge)

  • Good Honours Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or Management

  • MBA will be advantageous

  • Understanding of Upstream, LNG/Gas and Renewables Industry

  • Experience in M&A and Corporate Development Functions

  • Experience in strategy development and business planning

  • Superior analytical skills and financial acumen

  • Strong numerical, financial and modelling skills based on a well-developed understanding of financial statements

  • Capable of multitasking with rapidly changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment;

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage and maintain all facets of complex assignments

  • Problem solving with the aptitude to identify strategic solutions to business problems

  • Demonstrate the flexibility to work among diverse corporate environments, industries and technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate in English effectively with C-Suite executives and along vertical and horizontal planes internally and in client organizations;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Possess high integrity/ethics and positive work attitude

  • Willingness to travel

  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in a Strategy and Corporate Development Function at an Energy Company or in Investment Banking

  • Prior work experience in Energy Companies and/or Investment Banks will be advantageous
