Startdate: 15 July 2024 - 15 July 2024

The Net Zero Transition Programme Office (NZT PO) is set up as a new department of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) to implement national decarbonization programmes to benefit Singapore businesses.  In this role, you will play a pivotal role in developing and managing strategic partnerships and engagement programmes with key government agencies (G2B) and industry (B2B) stakeholders to drive the net zero transition agenda for Singapore businesses. This includes spearheading the development of the Singapore Emission Factors Registry (SEFR), and/or driving the roll-out of decarbonisation programmes for Singapore businesses, and/or new projects that the NZT PO develops.

The candidate will participate in the development of national projects which contribute directly to sustainability outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise, develop and implement projects such as the SEFR, and/or decarbonisation programmes for Singapore businesses, and/or new projects. This includes designing and implementing the projects’ business plans, acquiring business users, promoting adoption of the projects, and scaling up the projects.

  • Establish strong relationships with public and private institutions to promote SBF’s projects. For instance, convince companies, solution providers and financial institutions to utilise the SEFR and/or participate in SBF’s decarbonisation programmes.

  • Project manage the team’s workstreams, including timelines, budget, and deliverables.  The candidate is expected to achieve clear milestone deliverables by collaborating closely with colleagues, external partners (such as sustainability experts and/or software developers) and provide regular progress updates to management.

  • Develop and execute outreach and engagement activities to engage stakeholders on SBF’s projects. The candidate is not expected to organise a large number of workshops/conferences etc but must be prepared to attend such events organised by other parties to promote SBF’s projects.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, preferably Business, Management, Communications, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management, business development, business partnerships, and/or a related field. Outstanding candidates with less experience will be considered if they are able to demonstrate competencies. Candidates with more experience may also be considered if they are willing to accept the budgeted remuneration for this role, which is commensurate to someone with 3 to 5 years of experience with no people management responsibility.

  • Strong interest in sustainability (particularly climate change). Knowledge and experience in the sustainability sector (especially in greenhouse gas accounting or decarbonisation projects) and a good appreciation of the ecosystem stakeholders (e.g. understanding the roles of regulators, in-house practitioners, consultants and solution providers) would be ideal, but lack thereof is not a deal-breaker. The candidate must be an adaptable learner and gain proficiency in climate change issues/practices quickly.

  • Project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail, and a proactive and ‘can do’ attitude towards problem-solving.

  • Ability to identify and pursue business opportunities, engage potential clients, and forge partnerships. Track record of executing stakeholder engagement initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.

  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Leadership skills to influence cross functional teams and external partners.
