​Role Responsibilities

Play a project manager role in planning and delivering projects

Manage and guide the work of Associates and Associate Directors throughout their project assignments and help with their professional development

Drive strategy team initiatives (e.g., recruiting, training)

Strategy

As a Director within the team you will have the opportunity to help to shape the strategic agenda of the Group, working closely with the most senior stakeholders in the bank. Our work is broad ranging; we help the Board and top management to understand key industry trends and their implications, and also work directly with the leadership teams in business segments, geographies and functions to define their strategic priorities and implementation plans.

Business

The work is project based, and as a Director, your role will be to manage and steer the projects you work on day to day, typically working with a team of 1-2 Associates/Associate Directors. You will work closely with the team’s Managing Directors within the team according to the relevant expertise required for the project.

Processes

Manage the daily strategy project management processes, together with the team’s Managing Directors

People & Talent

Provide regular coaching and training to associate and associate directors in the team. Support delivery of the team’s people initiatives

Risk Management

Adhere to all relevant Group risk policies and guidelines

Governance

Adhere to all relevant Group governance requirements and guidelines

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders

Group MT, Group MT-1 to Group MT-3, across all businesses, functions and regions

Our Ideal Candidate

5+ Years’ experience combines financial services knowledge with a “Strategic consulting toolkit”. Potential candidates would be Project Manager or Engagement Manager level or equivalent if in Banking.

Banking consulting experience with a top tier firm and/or with strategy functions of leading banks

Emerging markets knowledge or experience preferred (especially in Asia, Africa, or Middle East)

Comfortable working in a relatively unstructured, project-based, and multi-cultural environment

Engage senior stakeholders across the bank on projects

Role Specific Technical Competencies

Project Manager or Engagement Manager level or equivalent if in Banking.
